Let’s Build a GREAT Radio Station Together.
Major-Market Experience: Focused on Privately Owned Radio Stations
I’ve worked with some of America’s best-known major market radio stations, from WBEB (B101) Philadelphia, Magic 106.7, Boston and Fresh 102.7, New York to great independently owned stations like KBZN, Salt Lake City, KRNO, Reno, and KMGE, Eugene.
Today, my focus is independently owned radio stations.
I like working directly with owners and managers who can make decisions based on what’s right for their station and their market.
You get major-market programming experience without a corporate playbook.
Your station. Your market. Your goals.
When You Hire Gary, You Get Gary.
Limited availability. Unlimited commitment. I keep my client list intentionally limited. That's how I stay personally involved with every station I work with.
No associates. No second stringers. You work directly with me.
I don’t hand you a report and disappear. I stay involved. Call me. Email me. If something comes up at night or on a weekend, I’m there.
Don’t believe me? Call me on a Saturday. I’ll pick up.
I know what your station means to you. It’s your business, your investment and something you’ve worked hard to build.
When I work with your station, I care about it like it’s my own.
If something doesn’t sound right, it bothers me, too.
Your station becomes my station, too.
Something Is Not Right.
You know your station. And you know when something doesn’t sound right.
Maybe it’s the music. The morning show. The imaging. Maybe the station has lost focus or the ratings just aren’t where they should be.
That’s usually when I get the call.
And while I understand not wanting another expense, if you know something isn’t right, leaving it that way can cost you, too.
I Find It. Then We Fix It.
The first thing I do is listen. Like a programmer.
Is the music right? Are the clocks and rotations working? Is the imaging doing its job? Are the personalities connecting? Is the positioning clear?
Most important, is there a reason for listeners to choose your station?
Once we know what needs attention, we go to work.
MUSIC
Libraries, clocks, rotations, scheduling and flow.BRAND
Positioning, imaging, liners, jingles and production.TALENT
Morning shows, coaching, development and recruitment.STRATEGY
Ratings, research, competition and promotions.
No change for the sake of change. No copying the station down the street. We fix what needs fixing.
Sometimes You Need More Than a Consultant.
Some stations need a trusted second opinion. Some need help coaching their Program Director. And some need someone to help run the programming operation.
Fractional Program Director
I can work alongside your team or serve as the primary programming leader, overseeing music, imaging, positioning, talent, promotions and day-to-day programming decisions. You get the experience and leadership of a proven Program Director without adding another full-time management position. However we work together, the goal is the same: Make the station better.
I Work With Your People.
I’m not there to replace your people. I’m there to help make them better.
I’ll work with ownership, management, your Program Director and talent so everyone understands the plan and is moving in the same direction.
I can coach your PD, work with your personalities and help your team execute the strategy.
The goal is to leave your station, and your people, stronger.
Let’s Talk About Your Station.
I understand where radio is today. Budgets are tight and every dollar matters.
But here’s something I can tell you: I’ve never had an owner who really wanted to bring me into their station where we couldn’t find a way to make it work financially.
If cost is the only reason you haven’t called me, don’t let it be.
There’s never a charge for the first conversation, so call me. You’ve got nothing to lose.
At the very least, you’ll have a great conversation with someone who loves radio as much as you do.
And who knows? We might just build a GREAT radio station together.
